It's quite often that we are disturbed by the noises transmitted from floor to ceiling. We all may experience this: when we are in deep sleep, we are woken by the footsteps or moving big stuff from upstair neighbour. How to avoid this situation?
As the victim of downstair, what we can do is to make our ceiling soundproof. Light foams won't fix this problem. We need to use heavy but soft and elastic materials to dampen the impact from upstair neighbours. But what is heavy but soft and elastic material?
The answer is rubber underlayment or cork underlayment. The underlayment will be fixed in keels in the ceiling. So noises will be reduced.
For bars, stadiums or dance rooms upstairs, how to make the floor soundproof to avoid complaints from downstair neighbours?
The first option is to lay carpet on top of the floor. This is the fatest and easiest way to insulate footsteps.
The second option is also the underlayment. For better acoustic performance, 5mm underlayment is recommended. And thicker underlayment will do better. The installation is also quite easy. Laying the underlayment beneath the flooring. We will send detail instructions of installation if needed. If you want to save labour cost, we have self-adhesive underlay at your option.
